The well-known provider of broadband services, Reliance Jio Infocomm has geared up to heat up the crowded smartphone market of India. Yes, this subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited is going to launch a 4G-LTE handset at Rs. 4,000 by December, which will offer lucrative voice and data plans in order to boost adoption levels of 4G devices in domestic space.
As reported by The Indian Express, chairman & managing director of Reliance Industries: Mukesh Ambani has revealed during company's 41st annual shareholders meeting held on 12th June that its subordinate telecommunications firm: Jio will commercially bring its high-speed 4G services around December. The CMD has also affirmed about the arrival of 4G-capable smartphones at the same time.
Notably, corporation has ensured that users of its upcoming LTE-enabled gadget will get telecom, high speed data, digital commerce, media and payment services for about Rs. 300-Rs 500 per month. Commenting on statement of CMD, "The combination of Jio's strong initiatives and a supportive global environment, gives me the confidence that we will see 4G LTE smartphones in India at prices below Rs 4,000 by December of this year."
During this general meeting, corporation also mentioned the success of its novel messaging application, called Jio Chat, which has managed to gain a million active users, without any paid promotions or over paid advertisements whatsoever. After achieving favorable outcomes for the mobile app, now tech giant has developed a bevy of software in order to obtain more leveraging. The forthcoming apps are namely- switch-and-walk, Jio Drive, Jio Play, Jio Beats, Jio Mags and Jio News.
As the matter of fact, company has announced its many objectives for the near future, where one of the most praiseworthy upcoming offerings is its digital money and digital payment system, called Jio Money. Here, Ambani stated that "it will play a crucial role in digitisation of payments in India by offering a platform for ubiquitous, affordable and secure digital payments and company has partnered with State Bank of India to apply for the Payment Bank license."
To recall, Chinese maker: ZTE has recently brought the cheapest 4G-enabled handheld in country, called Blade Q Lux 4G at Rs. 4,999, and now Reliance Industries has rolled up its sleeves to dethrone this device.
