Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) reportedly announced that it is planning to launch 4G enabled smartphone by the end of this year. The smartphone will be available under the LYF brand and priced between Rs.4,000 and Rs.25,000. Apart from the Reliance retail stores, the smartphone will be sold across the country via multi brand outlets.
In an emailed statement, Reliance Retail said that, “the brand is built on the premise of unmatched user experience will offer high performance handsets that deliver a true 4G experience comparable to the best in the world."
The information regarding the specifications is still unknown, but the smartphone under the LYF series will feature a dual SIM card slots, voice over LTE, voice over Wi-Fi, HD voice and video calling capabilities and offering a service at Rs. 300 per month.
Reliance Jio Infocom is said to roll out its services in India by the end of this year. Earlier this month, Reliance industries of Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Communication of Anil Ambani announced a partnership for the trade and share the mobile airwaves to offer high speed 4G services. In a signed agreement with RCom, share spectrum in the 800 MHz band across seven Telecom circles. Reliance communication is the new operator to enter the race to provide 4G services.
Reliance Jio already announced its plans to provide 4G services by using LTE bands of 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2300MHz through an integrated ecosystem.
