Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 57,900 and Rs. 64,900 respectively. Indian buyers can pre-book these smartphones from today onwards and it will be available from 5th May 2017. Battery Life, Camera and Infinity Display are some of the features of the smartphone highlighted by Samsung India in the event. Both the smartphones will be available from select offline retailers, Flipkart and the Samsung India E-Store.
Samsung Galaxy S8 will be available in India at a price of Rs. 62,600, which is the (Maximum Retail Price) whereas the operating price (MOP) of the smartphone is Rs. 57,900. On other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will be available in India at a price of Rs. 69,000 (MRP) and the MOP is Rs. 64,900. Samsung is offering internet pack to Jio users and get a double data of Rs 309 on the purchase of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Jio users will get an internet pack of 448 GB 4G data for 8 months.
Pre- booking of Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones have started today. The leading retailer Flipkart is the online partner of Samsung and it is also available in retail outlets or stores. Samsung company is offering a free-wireless charging case to users, who pre- ordered the phone. Flipkart had started teasing in its website for the availability of Samsung flagship.
Galaxy S8 variant will be powered with a Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC and this feature is available only in India whereas the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC variants will be available in the selected regions including the US. This should not be a deal-breaker for potential buyers in India, two SoCs were spotted for the comparison of performance. In fact, the Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC beat the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC in some benchmarks.
Samsung Galaxy S8 has been featured with a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) along with a Super AMOLED display whereas Galaxy S8 Plus featured with a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus has been protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Both the smartphones have been offered an internal storage of 4 GB (RAM) and external storage of 64GB that further can be extended upto (up to 256GB) via microSD card.
On the camera front, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus offers a 12-megapixel 'Dual Pixel' rear camera along with an optical image stabilisation and an f/1.7 aperture, and 8-megapixel front camera along with autofocus feature on board and also featuring an f/1.7 aperture. Both smartphone provides a range of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), USB Type-C, 4G LTE (Cat. 16), GPS and NFC. From sensors board, it includes barometer, accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, heart rate sensor and gyroscope. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus both support NFC and MST connectivity options.
