The much anticipated and rumoured HTC Desire Eye has come out to rule the smartphone market with its staggering 13MP selfie camera. What we didn’t imagine, Company has made it possible by presenting its selfie centric smartphone in Double Exposure Event. Well, where the features and specifications of this miraculous smartphone take to us when comparing it with HTC’s flagship One M8.
However, the recently launched handset is neither meant for meeting with this flagship nor in the line of Company’s One series. Then, how can a selfie device go to comparison box to compare with the prestigious and elderly flagship? However, both seem similar in specifications, but they gulf at some places; let’s check it out, what I’m discussing over here.
Snapper: The Central and crucial Point to Discuss
What’s the pivotal feature in the HTC Desire Eye to make it ranked device in against of HTC One M8? Here comes the difference between the two. Where HTC One M8 lacks, the Desire Eye ups, it’s the camera section. The new comer in the smartphone industry has the ability to rule the market with its 13MP front and rear camera. On the other side, the flagship of HTC spread the disappointment with its UltraPixel Duo Camera on rear side. Front camera of 5MP clarity is enough to give the feel of greatness, but stand one step behind, when compared to the Desire Eye’s jaw-dropping front camera.
That’s not enough to reach to the end of the camera features, the front shooter of HTC Desire Eye also gets dual LED flash, autofocus and zoom along with a dedicated camera button. All are quite enough to step the device up in the comparison box. However, BSI sensor, 28mm lens and an f/2.0 aperture for rear snapper find the same place in the box.
Screen: Bigger but Lacks in Pixel Density
Desire Eye with 5.2 inch screen and the One M8 with 5 inch screen make the new one bigger in size from its elder cousin. Though, the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels is identical in both. But, the larger one lacks in the pixel density (423ppi for Desire Eye and 440ppi for the HTC One (M8)) because of its enhanced display size. Comprehensively, both have pleasant and impressive display. And, the small difference in the pixel density can easily be ignored.
Design
This is the realm where the differences begin for both devices. HTC Desire Eye with plastic and colorful body looks completely different from HTC One M8’s metal body. The new comer is sleek with 8.5mm thickness while the One M8 is thick with 9.35mm dimension. The flagship is also heavier than the Desire Eye. With Desire Eye, you can enjoy clicking images in rain and deep inside the water. Thanks to its IPX7 rating which is far better than One M8’s IPX3 rating.
Performance, Power and Connectivity
Performance and power, where both perch on the same place - the Desire Eye and One M8, have 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. Android 4.4 support with Company’s own Sense UI, 16GB built-in storage and 128GB expandable storage, all are identical in both smartphones. Even the connectivity features for both handsets are also identical, including Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Wi-Fi.
Disparity to show their Significance
HTC Desire Eye seems little bit low in the battery capacity with 2400mAh unit while the HTC One M8 is blessed with 2600mAh battery. However, Company has claimed the same talk-time for the newly launched device as you have experienced in the flagship.
What’s the Conclusion?
Finally, the Comparison box is done with the “Comparison Process” and bringing us to the end. We can simply say that both reside on the same place when talking about the specifications. However, the difference in design makes them far apart from each other, but seems hard to find the best one as Desire Eye and One M8 both are perfect in their aspect. The primary focus is the camera of Desire Eye which has the capability to leave the Company’s flagship device behind. However, the price of recently launched smartphone is a trade secret. Well, as per my concern, nothing would be better than Desire Eye because of its high-end features (Same in the HTC One M8), winning camera features and classy design.
