Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker is all set to launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus on December 7. The launch event will take place in China and the company has announced this via China's social network Weibo. The major highting feature of the handsets will be it's-bezel-less display. The post on the social networking site Weibo has clearly indicated an edge-to-edge display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
It must be noted that the Redmi 5 has recently cleared TENAA certification. This upcoming Xiaomi mobile will have a 5.7-inch display HD+ display (1440 x 720p) with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is being speculated that the fingerprint scanner will be housed on the rear of the smartphone, like most devices with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Also, the smartphone might feature a Snapdragon 625 processor coupled along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and will come in only one variant. The handset will have a single rear camera of the 12-MP sensor along with a front camera of 5-MP. It will be powered by a 3,300mAh battery and will operate on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Redmi 5 is expected to cost 1,399 RMB (Approx. Rs. 13,700).
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will come with a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled along with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The handset is expected to bear a rear-facing dual-camera setup and will come powered by a 4000mAh battery. It must be noted that all the information furnished above is based on speculations.
