As expected, Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is hosting Xiaomi Annual Event in Shenzhen, China on 31st May to celebrate its 8th Anniversary. From a couple of weeks rumors regarding an event had started appearing on the internet which suggests that the Chinese company would launch various Xiaomi products such as Mi Band 3, Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, MIUI 10 which finally unveil today. The event is scheduled to start at 2 PM Beijing CST (11:30 am IST). It is the biggest event of the year for the Chinese company where the company has planned to update its flagship smartphone series, mobile, and fitness tracker. Previously, the company has announced that it is skipping Xiaomi Mi 7 in its Mi-series and directly launch the Xiaomi Mi 8, as 8 numeric highlights to celebrate company 8th anniversary. The company has also announced that the Xiaomi Mi is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and the rumors suggest that the flagship smartphone has a notch on the top, thin- bezels, taller display at the front side and vertically positioned dual-rear cameras.

After being in the rumors from last few weeks Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has finally unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, Mi 8 at an event in Shenzhen, China. The flagship smartphone runs on new MIUI 10 operating system which is equipped with artificial intelligence at the core. At the launch event, the company stated that MIUI 10 is perfectly powered by AI. While addressing at the launch event, the company claims that Mi 8 just received an amazing AnTuTu score, the highest score for all devices equipped with Snapdragon 845 so far,"
The company has launched Xiaomi Mi 8 in 6GB+64GB, 6GB+ 128GB, and one with 256GB storage variants. Mi 8 has been priced at CNY 2,699 which translates into roughly Rs 28,500 for 6GB RAM+64GB internal storage.
Xiaomi also launched Mi 8 Explorer Edition which will feature under- display fingerprint sensor similar to Vivo X21 that was unveiled on 29th May in India. Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition features a similar set of specifications as regular Xiaomi Mi 8 but the major difference is that Explorer Edition comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a transparent back panel, and 3D face recognition technology. Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition is available in 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage which has been priced at CNY 3,699 (approximately 39,000).
Xiaomi Mi 8 features a 6.21-inch 'Full Screen' Super AMOLED display, screen resolution of 1080x2240 pixels, 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 600 nit brightness, and 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. As rumored flagship smartphone comes with a notch on the top of the display. Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with dual 12- megapixel rear cameras with AI capabilities. “It is the best camera we’ve ever had," Xiaomi said during the launch event.
The dual rear camera setup features a dual pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection and video editing and more. At the front, the smartphone sport a 20-megapixel selfie camera with Infrared face unlock. The front-facing camera is said to feature as AI portrait selfies, and AI Beauty and aperture of f/2.0. Infrared Face Unlock Feature work also in the dark place, the company claims.
Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with Dual frequency GPS which will provide the users exact current location, “It eliminates interference from buildings and reduces signal delays, increasing the accuracy of navigating with Mi 8", company stated in statement.
Alongside Mi 8, Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. However, the company has not disclosed any of the information regarding special edition of the smartphone. It is expected that it would be a special edition of the flagship smartphone and likely to run on new Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.
As of now, we don’t know the detail information regarding Xiaomi's upcoming operating system, but the recently leaked screenshots have revealed that it is similar to Android P software in terms of design. It will come with various impressive features such as floating window, a full touch gesture controls, quick preview window, a new color scheme, and faster performance to Xiaomi flagship smartphone. The recent leaks also suggest that the new version of MIUI will be available in a Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone.
Earlier this the week, the testing version of MIUI 10 was commenced in China in the previous week ahead of official launch. To operate MIUI 10, users must have a WeChat ID and available in China.
Under the wearable section, it is confirmed that the Chinese electronics giant unveils the Mi Band 3 Fitness tracker. Likewise previous Mi Band, it is also available in similar price segment at CNY 169 which translates into Rs. 1,800). It is likely to come with features sleep tracker, Bluetooth v4.2, IP67 splash resistant rating, NFC, calorie counter, heart rate sensor, and step counter. Mi Band 3 is more secure as compared to Mi Band 2.
