Xiaomi, the giant Chinese technology development firm has introduced its latest phablet in India dubbed as Mi Max 2. The handset was unveiled at the New Delhi at an official occasion on 18 July and features a large 6.44-inch display, massive 5300mAh battery life, and 12-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor as its highlighting features. The company has only offered a single variant of the phablet in India, which comes with 4GB RAM/64GB inbuilt storage. Moreover, the device will be available on its first sale, at 12 pm on Thursday, July 20 via Mi.com and Mi Home.
The new Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is available with a price tag of Rs 16,999 and will be seen competing with several smartphones in the Indian market, including the Samsung Galaxy On Max, Samsung Galaxy J7 Max, Lenovo Pab 2 Plus, Oppo F1s, Oppo F3, Honor 8 and Honor 8 Lite. Moreover, Reliance Jio is also offering 100GB additional 4G data on the purchase of Xiaomi Mi Max 2 phablet. The user will get an additional 10GB data on his/her every recharge of Rs. 309 or above till May 31, 2018.
As we have already mentioned, the new Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be available at 12 pm on the company's 3rd Mi Anniversary Sale, on Mi.com and Mi Home, which is going to be held on July 20 and July 21. The handset will be completely available from July 27 via both online and offline stores across the country. Concerning about online availability, the handset will go on sale from 10 am IST via Amazon, Paytm Mall, Flipkart, and Tata Cliq. Offline stores for the availability of Mi Max 2 include Poorvika, Big C, Sangeetha, Croma, Lot, Vijay Sales, Ezone, and Reliance Digital.
Moreover, the company has announced that it will open new MI Home outlets in Bengaluru along with the Lido Mall outlet opening on Saturday, July 22, and the Orion Mall outlet opening on July 29. The device will be available in a matte black colour variant, which is exclusively introduced for India by the company. Additionally, the company promises that the smartphone will be made in India.
In term of specifications, the Android smartphone packs a 6.44-inch full-HD with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, a pixel density of 342ppi, a brightness rated at 450 nits, a 72 percent NTSC colour gamut, 2.5G curved glass, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 506 GPU. The device runs MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and packs 64GB inbuilt memory space, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The optical part of the Dual-SIM smartphone includes a 12-megapixel rear camera coupled with a Sony IMX386 sensor (with 1.25-micron pixels), PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and dual-LED flash. A 5-megapixel front shooter with a f/2.0 aperture and real-time beautification options is also provided by the company for selfie enthusiasts.
The Mi Max 2 GSM handset is backed up by a massive 5300mAh battery, which comes with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, capable of charging your device up to 68 percent in an hour. The gigantic battery of the smartphone has been claimed to offer up to 57 hours of talk time, 18 hours of video playback time, and 31 days of standby time. Connectivity options on the handset include 4G VoLTE, as well as dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS. Sensor part on the board includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared sensor, fingerprint sensor, and proximity sensor.
