As expected, Xiaomi Mi 6X aka Mi A2 goes official in China. It has been unveiled by Xiaomi at the launch event at Wuhan University. It is the new phone in the Mi series being offered by the Chinese company and falls under the mid-range price segment category. The Mi 6X is identical to the Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of design, as the cameras are positioned vertically on the rear panel. The key highlights of Mi 6X include a large 5.99 touchscreen display along with 18:9 aspect ratio, Android 8.1 Oreo, and the camera are integrated with AI features. It is speculated that the company could unveil the Mi 6X as Mi A2 soon in the Indian market.
The company unveiled the Mi 6X in three storage variants. All of the variants come with different pricing, RAM capacity, and internal storage. The 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage costs around CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs. 16,900), whereas the 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is available at CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs. 19,000). The top variant is priced at CNY 1999 (approximately Rs 21,000) and equipped with 6GB RAM+128GB internal storage. The Mi 6X will be available for purchase from 27th April in the China market and it is currently listed on the Chinese website of MI.
Mi 6X bears a 5.99-inch display along with 18:9 aspect ratio and comes with narrow bezels around the corners. It looks identical to the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of design. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 9.5 software. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, clocked at 2.2Ghz and Adreno 512 GPU. The smartphone is available in three storage variants:4GB RAM +64GB internal storage, 6GB of RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB of RAM+128GB internal storage.
The Mi 6X comes with a dual- rear camera setup which comprises of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 sensor with f/1.75 aperture and 1.25-micron pixels and a 20-megapixel sensor with features such as Sony IMX376 sensor, f/1.75 aperture, and 1-micron pixel size. The rear camera is said to feature a dual-tone LED flash and Phase-Detection Autofocus (PDAF). The smartphone sports a 20-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies along with LED flash. The company claims that camera is equipped with AI features as it can automatically detect the scene and change settings accordingly. Some of the AI features on the mid-range smartphone are Background Bokeh, AI Smart Beauty 4.0, AI currency conversion and so.

The Mi 6X comes with facial recognition feature which helps to unlock the smartphone and also has a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. Under the hood, it is fueled by a 3010 mAh battery with the support of QuickCharge 3.0 Technology. Users can charge the 50 percent of battery only in 30 minutes, the company claims.
In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is equipped with 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, Bluetooth 5.0, IR emitter, and USB Type-C port, but the 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing from it. The sensor on Mi 6X includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and proximity sensor. The company has unveiled the smartphone in five color options: Red, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Black, as expected. Its dimensions are 158.7x75.4x7.3mm and the weight of the smartphone is 168 grams.
As of now, the Chinese company has not announced when it will launch the Xiaomi Mi 6X or Mi A2 globally.
