Qualcomm has unveiled it's Snapdragon 845 SoC in 2nd annual Snapdragon Technology summit on Tuesday in Hawaii. It introduced the Snapdragon 845 SoC as its next top-end mobile processor, which will power most of the Android flagships in 2018. Xiaomi is primary to announce a smartphone with the processor, the Mi 7, while companies like LG and Samsung can be expected to make use the processor of their flagship subsequent next year. Home windows 10 notebooks that would be based on ARM architecture also are more likely to be in keeping with the brand new chip.
Alex Katouzian, Senior Vice President and General Supervisor of Cell for Qualcomm Technology, stated at the annual event Snapdragon 845 would be the successor to the Snapdragon 835 that used to be unveiled at CES 2017 in January. The chip will come with the newest X20 LTE modem that offers gigabit connectivity on supported networks. Moreover, it will be developed in partnership with Samsung Foundry.
Dr Jung foundry partner highlighted that his team at Samsung Foundry are working on reducing power consumption and increasing performance in process technology. Both these initiatives would help Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform as an advanced option for premium mobile devices

During the Qualcomm announcement, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun already confirmed that the next flagship Mi smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845. However, currently, it is not clear whether Xiaomi will launch that phone in India or not. The Mi 6 was not launched in India but the high-end Mi Mix 2, which uses Snapdragon 835, was launched in India.
"Xiaomi is committed to making devices that combine cutting-edge innovations in technology and beautiful design while defying price expectations, and we have chosen Snapdragon 845 to power our next flagship smartphone," stated Jun. CNET reports that Jun also confirmed the name.
During the announcement, Qualcomm may decide to stick to the 10nm process mode for its next processor. It’s next-generation mobile processor will also be powered by company’s latest X20 modem of achieving a download speed of 1.2Gbps. The Snapdragon 845 will also come with support for gigabit LTE, and clocked at an operating frequency of 2.5GHz and will come with the Adreno 630.
Specifications and features of Snapdragon 845 will be revealed on Wednesday, December 6. But devices with the new chip are not likely to be unveiled until January 2018.
However, there have been several leaks in the past suggesting specifications of the much-anticipated smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 7. The display will be 6-inch tall which will be made by Samsung and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 845. It also comes with 2 storage variants that are 6GB and 8GB RAM.
