Facebook, the social media padrone, made an announcement that they are going to change the website and Application running with Internet.org. "Free Basics by Facebook" is the name allotted to the website and app. Facebook clarified the reason for such step by quoting that they want to easily differentiate the Internet.org program with other programs and services being provided by the company. From now onwards, its Android application will be available on Google Play store with the same name "Free Basics by Facebook". For users, who are currently taking earning benefit from the Android application, they will continue using it without any issue. As per mobile and web version for of the website is concerned, it has been redirected to a new domain (FreeBasics.com).
The reason behind this change resides in the response they achieved from their work through the internet.org program. Since the platform was made available for the users, vast amount of users have made full utilization of it. As per the facts given by the Press (press.internet.org) more than 60 services has been made available over 19 countries. This is not the only factor to heed upon. With this initiative of Facebook, the way of living has changed a lot. People's are given a wide range of information related to health, education, economics and more.
Along with this change, Facebook made the Free Basics Android app more secure by adding HTTPS server security to it. This security has been embedded with the app as well as mobile and web version. In case you are only capable to run HTTP, FB will encrypt the information between their servers and any device that supports HTTPS.
Facebook has also made it clear that the doors are still open for developers, who are interested in capitulating their service in Internet.org program, they can still learn a lot from the developers page provided by the company. The guidelines are available in a clarified manner, from which developers can learn to build their own platform in a simple way.
Now, drawing some light on the past of Internet.org, it was launched in May, this year, as a platform to make the developers capable to create services that can easily integrate with internet.org program.
