Google Inc., an American multinational technology company, specialized in Internet-related services and products, which includes online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, and software. In the recent move, the Google has added a new feature that will allow non-Gmail users to access all the features of Gmail, on Android devices, even if they don't have any Google account. The company unveiled a scheme to “Gmailify” users Yahoo! Mail or Outlook.com/Hotmail address if one connect its account to Android’s Gmail app. Instead of just basic email management, Gmail will now incorporate more advanced features, like blocking spam and looking for content to ping you about in Google Now. The added 'Gmailify' feature allow Android users to access Yahoo and Outlook mails on the Gmail Android app; this update, however, is important because users can now use Gmail’s other features such as advanced search operators without switching accounts. For a lot of users, changing accounts can be a hassle. While most email clients want to entice users to sign up entirely with their service, Google goes one step ahead in ensuring that email users across the internet have access to Gmail’s useful features, regardless of the mail service they use.

Gmailify ensures that Google treats emails as if they were hosted on its own servers. This is an interesting point since Google does not necessarily have to allocate server space to these emails, but it can still enforce its branding on other clients through the “Gmailify” option. Users can turn the feature off and have complete control over whether their account is Gmailified or not. Google hopes that users with Hotmail, Outlook, or Yahoo accounts will choose to turn the feature off only when they decide to sign up for their own Gmail account.

The 'Gmailify' feature is exclusive to Android users. Gmail web and iOS users will have to sign up for their own Gmail accounts if they want to access the full range of features. For now, given the vast majority of Android and devices in the market, Google has the potential to serve ads and collect data about more individuals from within the Gmail app. More importantly, one app that caters to all mailing accounts eliminates the need to install multiple email clients on a smartphone.
