This MWC is the witness of seeing hTC’s first wearable fitness band which is astonishingly plushy in looks with GPS connectivity. If you were expecting the Android Wear based smartwatch, then the tech giant has made your assumptions wrong by launching its fitness tracker Grip in partnership with Under Armour.
Looking at its aesthetic, one can easily resemble this band with Nike’s FuelBand 2. Curved P-OLED display and matte black finish are the perfect to give it a classy look. It comes integrated with GPS. Once the hTC Grip turns on, it will start tracking your location, route during run. It is mated with five sensors which gives it the accessibility of tracking workouts detail. You can keep track of distance, pace and calories burned.
With an aim of making its first fitness band the important part of everyone’s life, hTC has teamed up with Under Armour Record App to offer ultimate fitness experience with its compatibility with iOS and Android devices. There is no place for heart rate monitor, but the Grip is compatible with external monitors via Bluetooth.
You can also share your activities with your friends. It comes with IP57 rating, so it is prone upto 1m deep into the water for 30 minutes. As said by HTC CEO Peter Chou, "Simply put, Grip will train you as if you have a team of professional experts coaching you the entire time." It comes in thre sizes with two color options. It will be going to sell at $199 in Spring season.
