After grabbing the crown of world's largest software maker, now Microsoft has shown off its first health-oriented wearable: Microsoft Band. Despite of being most valuable consumer electronics company, the tech giant has geared up to jump into the segment of wearable devices. As per reports of Windows Central, Band's Sync app have been appearing on the Mac as well as on Android app stores. And, it is expected to go on sale from the 30th of Oct along with a price tag of $199 for US customers only.
As per the company, this wrist-worn has been designed by Quentin Morris and it is decked with 10 sensors for tracking steps, heart rate, sleep, and other biometrics. Though, gadget has been said to have some smartwatch features because it has the capability to display notifications from user's mobile. But, it has been specially crafted to take record of fitness activities such as walked steps, heart rate, calories burned and sleep quality.
The smart band has also been claimed to render a battery lifespan of around two days. Notably, the most highlighted part of the timepiece is its built-in GPS, whereby the wearer can monitor workout during running without a smartphone. However, there is no word about its operating system, but it has been speculated that gadget will have 310 x 102 pixel display to show fitness metrics and alerts.
Being compatible with cloud-based Microsoft Health Service, this band might be corporation's answer to Apple's HealthKit integration platform. According to some sources, it flaunts a bracelet like design along with a horizontal display, which is pretty similar to Samsung's Gear Fit. As of now, this wearable device has been envisaged to be traded via Microsoft's physical and online stores with the above mentioned monetary value.
