General Motors increasing car prices in India

General Motor's car brand Chevrolet in India has announced to increase their car prices by 1 to 3 percent. The increment of price will come on the brand by January 2013. There are 9 running models of Chevrolet in the Indian market as Aveo, Beat, Captiva, Cruze, Aveo UVA, Optra, Sail UVA, Tavera and Spark.

The fluctuation in Indian rupees has caused this increment as earlier Maruti and Toyota have also announced the increment of their vehicles. Vice President of GM India, P Balendran said that the price hike will depend on the models as the rise in the input cost also caused this hike.

As the fuel price and interest on car loans are increasing, the growth rate of Indian auto industry is getting downwards. The sales during the festive season were very low and car buyers are not taking interest because of increased prices and dearness.
