IIT- Bombay Placements, Top offer 80 lakh

The day 1 of placements at IIT-B held on Saturday. Sriram Bhargav is placed at Samsung US/Korea has offered around US $1, 50,000 approx Rs.80 lakh per annum. Computer science and engineering student Deepanker Reddy has hired by Rocket Fuel with approx highest packages. Sagar Chordia and Saif Hasan are placed in Facebook. Hasan is one of the top rankers of computer science department. They were hired after four rounds of intense interviews by Facebook.

Sagar had got the offer from five companies and he accepted Facebook’s lifetime bond. The initial salary of selected candidates in the social networking company is $100,000 per annum along with bonus of $20,000.

Twitter recruited for the first time in IIT-B and selected two candidates. LinkedIn hired three and algorithmic trading company Jump Trading did not hired any student from the campus. Last year 140 offers were made and this year there were around 160 placements. 35 companies have visited on Saturday and 29 have visited on Sunday.

There were around 1300 student registered for campus and last year the number of registered students was 1200. Professor-in-charge of placements Avijit Chatterjee quoted that all the students are not placed in the campus, some of them are hired and some are going to continue with further studies.

On the second day also big companies like Yahoo, Amazon, Oracle, Adobe and Barkley have hired some students.
