Women's Day which is celebrated every year on March 8. It is a day which is dedicated for respect of a woman. This day also praises the love and dedication of women's economic, political life and how women has got social achievements. It is celebrated in different places around the globe that's why originally it is known as International Working Women's Day.
In some regions this day is celebrated as a combination of mother's day and valentine's day whereas in some countries it is also taken as a political day. In these parts, human rights run strongly and women struggles have brighten up world wide and examined thoroughly, if any how help is possible then UNO provides it.
History
The importance of this day came into existence on 28th February 1909 in United States. After that a meeting was held where delegates decided to promote equal rights for all women including right to vote, equal rights for both men-women and to hold public office. The main motto of the organization is to provide similar consideration for women as men.
In the year 2012 the United Nation's theme for this day considered as Empowerment of Rural Women – End Hunger and Poverty. There was facility to send Free Day-e-Card to people in honor of women. It also got an unique existence when ICRC called to help mothers and wives of people who have gone missing during armed conflict. So, Google Doodle fixed the date as 8th March. Now, this year UN comes with a new theme "A promise is a promise".
How it is celebrated
Different countries have different ways of solemnization, but if we talk about America. A new holiday adds to its calendar. A bouquet of flowers and a small gift is proffered to any women in their lives. If we go for India, the day has its own importance. Government offers several schemes for the benefits of women. Last year there was policy of free traveling for women all over the country.
