Sonia Gandhi traveled in Air force planes without having rights

UPA president Sonia Gandhi has visited 49 times in the aircrafts of Indian Air force apart from she was not allowed to. The chairperson of National advisory council, Sonia Gandhi was co-passenger with PM Manmohan Singh for 23 times. RTI activist Ramesh Verma has given this information to the defence and air headquarters. Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has used the aircrafts of Indian air force for eight times but according to the rules of air force both Rahul and Sonia do not have rights to reserve air force planes for travelling. They can only travel with the person who has rights to travel in the air force plane.

UPA President Sonia Gandhi's travelling charge is also due for all the journeys. Air force has Rs.1.17 crore pending on Karnataka government for visit of Sonia Gandhi. Similarly Rs.8.26 lakh are pending on Asam government for Rahul's visit. Both governments had booked aircrafts for visits of both the leaders. According to the rule only Prime Minister can use the aircrafts for non- government issues. Defense minister A.K. Antony has declared in parliament on 7th May, 2012 that only PM, Vice PM, defense minister and home minister can use air force aircrafts of government issues and visits.
