Few days earlier, we have updated that the KTM motorcycle manufacturer will be taking part in the upcoming MotoGP Championship, which will be going to held in the year 2017. The recent announcement made by the CEO of KTM, Steve Pierer revealed all the details about the KTM's interest to become a part of the MotoGP Championship.
According to the CEO, the manufacturer has also planned to introduce a brand new motorcycle through which they will be entering the championship. The upcoming MotoGP motorcycle is named as RC16, a V-4 prototype motorcycle. The RC16 will be designed and developed in the 2015 and will go on testing for a complete one year, i.e. in 2016. And, eventually it will make its appearance in the championship along with other competitors.
However, it really sounds great for the KTM aficionados that the company will be manufacturing a brand new RC16 but along with they will also stop the production for the existing RC8. This might be disheartened for the true KTM lovers, as they will never be able to see the RC8 again. It seems that the Austrian manufacturer is devoting itself for the upcoming entry in the family of 1190 Series.
The existing motorcycle is powered by a 4-stroke, 75 degree V-Twin, liquid-cooled engine, which gives an engine displacement of 1195cc. The power figure counts up to 173BHP of total power. The engine is mated with a 6-speed transmission and the braking system has been taken care by twin disc brakes at the front and single disc brake at the rear. Although, the CEO hasn’t confirmed the date when the RC8 will come to an end, but for sure the RC8 will be crossing its finishing line when the RC16 will be readying from the starting line.
