Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Rolled Out For Moto X Play In Canada And India

The Moto X Play is receiving Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates in Canada and India today. However, the download only comes in at a modest 388MB . The download package is small because an Android 6.0 update had already been rolled out for the Moto X Play in India back in January and Canada in December, but it looks like the company has found enough time to upgrade the handset to 6.0.1 now too. Android 6.0.1 only includes the latest emoji pack, but this update also ensures that the handset is kept secure with the latest March Android security patch.

It may not sound good, but security patches in every update are probably the most important part. Given that so many threats have come out of the woodwork lately, Google’s commitment to release regular security updates is pretty significant. But of course, we need new features, and if you’re crazy about emojis, you’ll now get the Unicode 8.0 update which brings more than a hundred new ones so you can continue chatting with your friends without using any words.

Motorola was prompt in releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices. It has already seeded the firmware to Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto G (3rd Gen), Moto G Turbo Edition and Moto G (2nd Gen), while its counterparts, like Samsung, are yet to release it to their flagship devices. A Moto X play user can also manually check the availability of the new software by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System updates' >> 'Check For Update'.

The latest update has ensured many feasibilities in the smartphone. The main camera app can now be launched by double pressing on the power button. The sound of the camera shutter has also been changed as well. The update also includes some miscellaneous stability improvements to keep the handset running smoothly.
