The German automotive giant, Volkswagen recently launched its first compact sedan, Ameo in the country with only petrol engine option. And now carrying a TDi mark on the boot, the test mule of Ameo diesel was spotted testing near Pune city, Maharashtra. This indicates that Volkswagen can launch the diesel option for Ameo anytime soon. However, this diesel motor still under some updates and expected to hit the market by October this year.
The Ameo diesel version will be powered by the same 1.5-litre oil burner unit which was first seen in the Polo hatchback and then followed by the Vento sedan in 2014. But in the Ameo, this unit go under some updates and feature a slight increase in power.

The updated diesel engine will produce a maximum power of 108 bhp in combination with 230 Nm of peak torque in against with the 103 bhp it produced in aforementioned vehicles. The Diesel Ameo is expected to launch with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG transmission option. In terms of dimensions, body structure, design and features will remain unchanged.
Nothing about to worry on the VW’s diesel-powered vehicle, the new updated diesel engine will also be certified with all the emission norms after the famous VW’s Dieselgate Scandal. Though, this is the engine unit which was part of this world famous scandal.
The first made-in-India and made-for-India compact sedan by the German carmaker, the Ameo was launched in first week of June this year with an attractive price tag. The ongoing model is powered by a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder MPI petrol engine that is mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox that gives a maximum power output of 75 PS and churns out a peak torque of 110 Nm.
