Somewhere, Porsche and Maserati are juxtaposed. Both are well-known luxury sports carmakers and compete with each other in terms of features, styling, performance and even prices. It can be seen here at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as well, where the Porsche comes with an updated version of its Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, and 911 GT3 Cup, Maserati has also taken the corners with its most luxurious saloons, the Quattroporte and the Ghibli. Even though they are not competing here with specs as they belong to different segments, yet these supercars are getting head to head for gathering more crowd.
For the MY 2017, Maserati Quattroporte has got a makeover from inside as well as outside and unveiled two new variants namely GranLusso and GranSport. Talking about the exterior, which is now acquainted with a matte black finished new front bumper and a more imposing front grille, is giving a better highlighting to the shark nose stance. Besides, it has also been rendered with redesigned side skirts with matte black profile and restyled wing mirrors.
On a closer look, you will find an electrically adaptable air shutter which is situated in the front grille enclosure between the engine radiator and the air vents. As the company claims, these changes will help to alleviate drag by 10 percent.
Inside the cabin, both the saloons flaunt a revamped dash that comes attached with an 8.4-inch infotainment system with high-resolution multi-touch screen display for supporting the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone functions as well. For safety, both the Quattroporte and Ghibli are featured with the advanced driver assistance which is a full package of stuff like blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, advanced brake assist, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking system. Moreover, a surround view camera is also there on the list.
The automaker has added a new 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 engine to both the cars that are good for an increased power of 20 bhp and now stands at 350 Bhp. Having this new update, the Quattroporte is claimed to have a top speed up to 270 kmph and can accelerate from nought to 100 kmph within 5.5 secs. The Ghibli, on the other hand, is reported to hit the maximum speed of 267 kmph.
