The fourth-generation 2016 Toyota Prius, which was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo few months back , has successfully scored a 5-star safety rating in the test conducted by Euro NCAP. This year, Prius has been entitled as the first car to receive a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. It is said that it became possible all due to the testing of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology for pedestrians. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki Baleno managed to score a decent 3-star rating from the Euro NCAP this year.
2016 Toyota Prius comes with Toyota’s standard safety package. Moreover, the buyers are free to assemble additional safety features such as features blind spot monitor system and rear cross traffic alert by spending some more money. It received 92 percent score in the adult occupant protection, 77 percent in pedestrian protection, 82 percent in child occupant protection, and 85 percent in safety assistance.
Toyota released a statement stating that the Prius model has proved itself in providing protection of all critical body areas. Toyota Prius hybrid had also performed extravagantly in the side barrier collision test. The 2016 Toyota Prius is scheduled to be launched in India by the end of this year, replacing the current model and continuing to be sold as a CBU.
