Putting all ongoing speculations to rest, Honda has confirmed an October 9th launch of its all-new CR-V SUV. The new offering from the Honda factory was first showcased at this year's Auto Expo 2018. Honda has managed to garner a lot of buzz around its next-gen SUV by offering a diesel trim option too.
The next-gen CR-V will boast of bigger dimensions accommodating third-row seats too. This makes the new mill a seven-seat SUV. The Diesel option coupled with the seven-seat cabin space makes it a great Diwali bonanza for SUV lovers. Honda has done away with manual transmission for the diesel trim owing to poor demand. Reportedly, the SUV will be assembled in India itself.
First Honda Diesel Mill
The new Diesel Mill will be powered by a single turbo 1.6-litre unit from Honda’s Earth Dreams engine family. Honda has opted for a single turbo and not a twin turbo option to stay cost-effective. Maybe with time, we could see a twin-turbo engine on the diesel option too. The diesel trim churns 120 hp and 300 Nm of torque which may disappoint lovers of speed and power. However, 9-speed automatic transmission coupled with paddle shifters will render a smooth drive experience and make up for the missing power. An all-wheel-drive option will also be on offer.

The Petrol Mill
The petrol option will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It produces 155hp and 192 Nm of torque similar to the Tucson’s 2.0-litre engine option. However, Honda has decided to give the four-wheel drive or paddle shifters a miss on petrol variants.
