As per the latest reports from Economic Times, the new Aprilia SR150 is scheduled for the India launch in August 2016. Sharing the same engine as of the Vespa 150, the scooter was presented in front of the audience at the Auto Expo 2016, which is just concluded in Delhi a couple of days before. Stefano Pelle, CEO of Piaggio India, conveyed to the publication, "Piaggio India is once again set to carve out a new category in the premium two-wheeler segment with the Aprilia SR150.” Offering the comfort of both- a sports bike plus a premium scooter, SR150 is vended as a crossover machine.
Having the mechanical ergonomics quite similar to that of the Vespa 150, this bike cum scooter will be manufactured at the native Piaggio’s plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. Under the hood, there is a 154.4cc air-cooled, single-cylinder carbureted engine with three valves, which is claimed to deliver 11.55PS of power at 7000RPM and 11.5NM of torque at 5500 RPM paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
