India’s second largest two-wheeler maker, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, will update its product portfolio by next year as the number of upcoming products from the firm will feature with BS-IV complaint engines to comply with the requisites by the Indian Government. The launch will happen in the first half of the next year, and after then the company will launch one product every month. There are only 14 products in the company’s lineup that will receive subtle modification and upgrade.

BS-IV (Bharat Stage 4) Emission norms are emission standard that reduce air and control air pollution. Recently, the company has launched CB Hornet 160R in the Indian two-wheeler market that is also featured with the BS-IV motor. The Indian government has ordered all manufacturers to roll out BS-IV compliant vehicles before 31st March, 2017. In addition, the two-wheelers that come under 125cc motor will be equipped with Combi Braking System (CBS) and vehicles above 125cc of displacement will come feature with Antilock Braking System (ABS).
Muramatsu said in the interview, “The implementation of BS-IV norms and Combi Brake System (CBS) etc will increase the cost. And if like cars, if the BS-V norm is advance then further cost will increase, nothing is predictable right now. However, we will try to find a cost effective solutions also.”
