Honda India is all set to bring its much anticipated Honda BR-V in the Indian market tomorrow i.e May 5, 2016. Post launch, the compact SUV will be seen competing with its prominent rivals like Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari Storme. As of now, Honda BR-V is said to the first 7-seater SUV in the market.
The BR-V will be available in both petrol and diesel option in India. Both the engine variants are also available with the Mobilio and City model . The 1.5-litre petrol engine churns out a maximum power output of 120PS and 145Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor pumps 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque. Both these engines come paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the CVT option is available with the petrol trim.
BR-V’s design is sporty and compact, as it gets a perfect look of a crossover. The interesting part is the aggressive front grille with chrome outline and the alloy wheels. On the interior counterpart, the BR-V shares some parts from the new Amaze model. The dashboard comes equipped with infotainment system , automatic climate control, etc. Apart from these upmarket features, the biggest USP of the BR-V is the generous cabin space and the bench seats for the third row occupants.
Honda BR-V will face some mild competition with the major players such as Hyundai Creta, Tata Safari Storme, Renault Duster and the Mahindra Scorpio. If priced competitively, it could come with a price tag between INR 9 Lakh to 14 Lakh. Moreover, Honda India has already started taking bookings for this car.
