Whether you believe or not, but the media reports have stated that Honda car India is planning to add several new vehicles to its profile. Nothing has been officially confirmed by the company, but these models are supposed to be launched in the market by the year of 2018-19. The plans might be a move to recover the dropping sales graph in recent years owing to the performance of Mobilio MPV and Brio hatchback.
As reports say, the carmaker plans to introduce a new crossover model by 2017 that will be based on the Jazz platform and will have a codename 2FM. Moreover, the list has also included some of the other new generation model names such as Accord, CR-V, Brio compact car (Codenamed 2UA) and Amaze Sedan (Codenamed 2UB).
Apart from the above vehicles, an all-new compact SUV BR-V is also on Honda's launch cards that will happen on May 5. Based on the company's flexible GSP platform, the car has become quite a sensation among the buyers as the carmaker is promoting it very well.
“Quite a few of their models have seen a free fall in volumes in the recent past, impacting the overall sales adversely. Therefore, the idea is to launch models with a high degree of locally sourced parts so that it can be launched at a competitive price which can in turn get them the much-needed volumes,” said a company's official.
Based on the company's strategy for the new models, it is being estimated that Honda's annual sales in India to touch 3,00,000 units by 2021.
