Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz sedan has performed very well in the segment in the FY2015-16. The automaker has cut the prices of the model by upto Rs. 69,000. This reduction in the prices is quite surprising, which happened due to the 50 per cent reduction in excise duty on mid-size sedan. The hybrid cars price have been lowered due to the reduction of the excise duty. As per National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), excise duty on Ciaz diesel model that comes with a micro-hybrid system is now liable for 12.5 percent of excise duty instead of 24 percent.
Here, below the ex-showroom prices for the Ciaz SHVS have been mentioned after the reduction. Check the new variant wise prices here–
Maruti Ciaz VDi – Rs 7.68 (previous Rs 8.23)
Maruti Ciaz VDi (O) – Rs 7.81 (previous Rs 8.38)
Maruti Ciaz VDi+ – Rs 8.22 (previous Rs 8.82)
Maruti Ciaz ZDi – Rs 8.89 (previous Rs 9.53)
Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ – Rs 9.49 (previous Rs 10.18)
However, only the diesel variants are liable for the price deduction. The prices of the petrol variants are still same. The Ciaz SHVS diesel is powered by a 1.3-liter DDiS engine which makes 89 bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Ciaz is based on the SHVS technology that combines integrated starter generator, auto start-stop system and brake energy recovery system, that helps in boosting the fuel efficiency. According to the ARAI rating, the Ciaz SHVS is said to return a fuel efficiency of up to 28.09 kmpl.
With such reduced prices, the Ciaz base diesel variants now costs Rs 1.62 lakh cheaper than the Honda City, which is the closest rival. The top variant of Ciaz is around Rs 2.91 lakh cheaper than the Honda City top variant.
