India bound Mercedes Benz GLC has been introduced recently at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show 2015 (also known as GIIAS). This car had already made its first appearance in Germany, but this time, the model has been presented on a global platform. It is based on the Modular Rear wheel drive Architecture (MRA) utilised by the C-Class models and will be available in right hand drive version. It will arrive in the Indian market by the second half of next year and will replace the current GLK model.
The new version of this SUV is a lot more spacious regarding the portions like shoulder room, legroom along with a bigger boot space of 1600 litres as opposed to the 1550 litres carried by the previous version. Besides this, the vehicle manages to deliver 19% more fuel efficiency in spite of being larger in size.
From outside, this SUV highlights the dual-slat grille finished in chrome, LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, horizontal tail lights, roof spoiler and large air inlets. Moving inside, a luxurious ambiance can be witnessed with all the necessary comfort features. The steering wheel is mounted with controls on it and chrome inserts can be found in the portions like AC vents, center console and door panels.
The new GLC will be brought in the market with four variants, namely- GLC 220d, GLC 250d, GLC 250 and GLC 350e plug-in hybrid. All these models will be carrying either a 2 litre diesel or a 2 litre petrol motor coupled with a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox except for the 7G-Tronic facility that will be fitted in the hybrid variant.
In Indonesian market, customers will be able to avail the GLC 250 4Matic variant that houses a 2 litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine generating 211 Hp and 350 Nm of output. The car will be able to cover up to 100 km/h within 8 seconds with the top range reaching to 222 km/h. The AWD setup will be offered as a standard feature across the range in all the variants.
