The Japanese giant manufacturer- Suzuki has applied for patents in countries like Japan, USA and Germany, for a semi-automatic transmission system. This cutting-edge technological fitment will be equipped with the brand’s fastest motorcycle, Suzuki Hayabusa, as obvious from the patent sketches.
As revealed by the patent design, the clutch and gear shifts are in mechanism with actuators that with conventional foot pedal assist handle transmission. For gear shifting, the system intimates the ECU via sending a signal when the petal is placed. Alongside, a click mechanism is also there to offer a traditional bike ride feel. Overall, the system is being predicted to be an advanced, more potent iteration of an AMT (automated manual transmission).
Design wize, the system Suzuki is patented for is similar to the Honda’s DCT system. Also, the bike maker did not have much need of making such major alterations to introduce this system to the powertrain.

It is expected that the brand will bring this automated transmission with its next-generation Hayabusa. Though, the patent sketch is featuring ongoing Hayabusa. We are expecting the 2019 Hayabusa with the semi-automatic transmission which will receive a host of modifications at both cosmetic and mechanical front. It is likely to be fitted with a much powerful 1440cc engine.
The global appearance of this 2019 Hayabusa is expected at upcoming EICMA show in Italy that will mark bike’s 20th anniversary.
