As we informed you not so long back about the Indian launch of Porsche Macan, the SUV has finally arrived in the country for the confirmation purpose from the ARAI. Porsche has brought about 10 units in India of the Macan diesel variant and the price of each will be around INR 38 Lac before tax and INR 85 Lac ex-showroom after the taxes.
The variant which has been booked for the Indian roads is a 3.0 Litre six cylinder V6 diesel model which is able to produce 258 bhp power and 580 Nm of torque with reaching 100 km/h from rest in nearly 6 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. The other variant of the Porsche Macan which could see an Indian day is the 3.6 Litre six cylinder V6 petrol model with 400 bhp power and 500 Nm torque. This petrol variant has better acceleration as it crosses the 100 km/h mark from 0 km/h in just 4.8 seconds with the top speed of 266 km/h. Both the models have the same signature 7-speed PDK gearbox.
This new SUV will take the challenge from the already established names like the new BMW X5, Audi Q7, Range Rover, Land Rover and others. However, the only thing which could hurt the sales chart of the SUV is its sky-high price and I guess Porsche has to re-think about this if they want to make the car a hit in the Indian car market with 25-lac unit/year demand.
