While many of us are still awestruck by recently launched Mercedes AMG GT S, the automaker is already planning to come with an even more amazing version of the car. According to some fresh market reports, Mercedes is working on a much powerful coupe, which could possibly be named as AMG GT R. However, the same terminology GT-R is already available in a sport car by Nissan and hence it might create a conflicting situation between the two. Coming back to the upcoming model, it may arrive in the showrooms by the end of next year.

Currently, the GT S variant is mechanically packed with a 4 litre, V8 engine that is coup[led to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The maximum power generated is measured at 510Bhp along with peak torque of 650Nm, which is transferred only to the rear wheels. It is believed that the GT R model could be powered by the same engine with tweaked output. Moreover, it might be equipped with an AWD facility. Apart from this, one can also expect components like four-wheel steering, adjustable spool valve shocks, aerodynamic body and massive tires.

As it's already known that AMG SLS has been replaced by AMG GT S, whereby the latter is comparatively less impressive in terms of acceleration. Thus, it makes complete sense that the company is aiming at developing a superior variant. There are endless sports cars in the market and it is always a matter of great excitement for the enthusiasts to wait for the fresh arrivals in this segment. Like all other models in the lineup, Mercedes is likely to perform well yet again with this offering.
