After showcasing the concept model of TVS Draken X21 in the Indonesia and at the Delhi Auto Expo, 2014, which was held in the month of February, the TVS Motor Company has too much involved to bring up a new 250cc motorcycle. If rumors to be believed, the upcoming motorcycle will supposedly be a 250cc variant of TVS Apache RTR.
The Apache RTR series has said to be the flagship motorcycle from the manufacturer. The Hosur, Karnataka based manufacturing unit is planning to take over the upcoming KTM RC 200, Existing KTM Duke 200 and Honda CBR 250R. Equipped with a 250cc engine, this will be the company's first ever 250cc motorcycle. According to the tittle-tattle, which has been rolling all over the places, the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 250 will be priced near to Rs 1.3 Lakh to Rs 1.4 Lakh.
Some speculations have been made that an updated version of TVS Apache RTR 180 will also be making its debut with the 250cc variant. The updated version of the TVS Apache RTR 180 will be receiving a combined braking system, similar to Honda, and elevated version of the ABS system. The all new Michelin tyres will be introduced along with the balancers, which will wisely keep the NVH levels. The upcoming motorcycle will be designed as a combination of commuter and racetrack motorcycle. But, keeping the showcased concept model of TVS Draken in mind, we can definitely say that something is definitely cooking in the manufacturer's mind and it will come-up with a booming result.
Talking about the mechanism of the upcoming motorcycle, it would be receiving the same engine specifications which were showcased in the conceptual model, i.e. TVS Draken. The showcased model was featuring a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-Valve engine, which gives an engine displacement of 250cc and mated to a 5-speed transmission. The power and torque figures could 38.5PS @ 12,000 RPM and 23Nm @ 9,500RPM. The upcoming 250cc motorcycle would perform like a track-honed motorcycle. It is expected that the TVS will be contributing some new motorcycle parts such as blinkers, new foot-rest, front mud-guard, handle bar grips or a complete rear disc brake assembly.
