Xiaomi-Backed Yi Technologies, the maker of budget action and digital cameras, has officially released its first action and security cameras in India. Inspired by the success of other foreign companies in the country and with the hope to get a budget-friendly market, Yi has introduced two of its most popular action cameras in India, the Yi Action Camera and Yi 4K Action Camera, which are now available on Amazon India. The company has also launched two budget security cameras, Yi Home IP Camera and Yi Dome IP Camera for the Indian market.
Yi Technology also announced its 4K+ Action Camera at CES 2017, which is yet to be launched in India.
The Yi Action Camera is priced at Rs. 6,990 while its 4K version is available for Rs. 17,990. These two products are likely to give strong competition to similar products from GoPro, which offer almost the same specifications but comparatively higher cost. The Yi Action Camera comes with a 16MP Sony IMX206 lens capable of recording 1080p videos at 60fps. It also has an Amarelle A7LS chipset for image processing and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity.

The Yi 4K Action Camera, which is priced higher than the other version, comes with the 4K capability to record 4K videos at 30fps. The device has a 2.19-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and a 12MP Sony IMX377 sensor with EIS and 7P lens. It also has the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity functions, and a 1,400mAh battery to back long shooting hours.
About the Yi security cameras, the Yi Home IP Camera is priced at Rs. 2,990 while Yi Dome IP Camera costs Rs. 4,990. Both devices are available on Amazon India. The Yi Home Camera is a complete Wireless IP security surveillance system for the Indian households. At this price level, it is likely to strongly compete against the already popular D-Link and Nest products. Yi Home IP Camera comes with a 1MP CMOS sensor. Other features of the camera include high accuracy motion detection, a 111-degree wide angle lens, built-in microphone, and advanced night vision.
The Yi Dome IP Camera, which is costlier than the Home Camera, has some additional features including 10 seconds smart motion tracking and 360-degree coverage.
