The response to HTC U11 came as a surprise to many Industry experts. However, the HTC U11 made sure that the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer would come with a new offering this year too. HTC has now put an end to all the rumors doing the round with a tweet on Thursday. The tweet confirms a May 23 launch event for its next offering. However, the tweet gives away little details about the product or the next inline smartphone. Speculations are still high and point towards the launch of the HTC U12+ smartphone. HTC U12+ is touted as the flagship offering for 2018 from the Taiwanese phone manufacturer. Unlike earlier rumors that placed the U12 variant as the possible successor to the HTC U11 series, HTC in all likeliness launch its premium offering with the U12+ brand name.

The tweet posted on the official twitter handle of the smartphone maker has a picture with dismantled components of the smartphone placed as its background with the launch date alongside the caption, "Coming Soon. A phone that is more than the sum of its specs." A photo speaks a thousand words for itself and HTC is also trying to the same. The tagline reflects HTC’s attempt to be not part of the hardware rat race that other smartphone manufacturers are part of these days. HTC’s effort to remain relevant in the Smartphone space even after when Google has become the majority stakeholder in its mobile engineering division is brave and laudable. However, time will only tell us about the faith of HTC in the ever-changing Smartphone Market.
HTC has kept the specifications and features of its possible new offering under the wraps for now. However, it is rumored that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB RAM. Buyers might have the option to choose from 64GB or 128GB variants.
Under the hood, the flagship smartphone will drive power from a 3420mAh battery.
HTC U12+ will have two 12-megapixel sensors powered horizontal dual camera setup camera setup. For selfie enthusiasts, the smartphone is also rumored to come with two 8-megapixel sensors on the front. It will carry a 5.99-inch LCD panel display with a QHD+ resolution with a thin-bezel. Other highlights may include n LED flash, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Speculations are also high that HTC may parallelly also launch the U12 variant. Thanks to some online leaks, the U12, if launched, will boast of a "Frameless Display" design that would subsume a 6-inch Super WQHD LCD display panel. Both the phones, it is rumored, will be running on Android Oreo. However, with no official confirmation from the horse's mouth, we would be waiting to see whether the HTC’s new offering actually delivers on the claims made on its Twitter account.
