LG Patent Shows 16-Camera Smartphone For Capturing Moving Images

In today’s world, the camera features and quality is the most important thing seen in smartphone. Most of the Android phones have the same mobile processor platform i.e. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, but when we talk about camera features, this is among the few areas where a manufacturer can try new innovative ideas.

As the image quality is becoming better day by day, few of the manufacturers has also started to build multiple cameras in their smartphone so that new features can be enabled like extensive accurate depth sensing for better portrait mode shots. There are many mobile who have multiple camera in one of their devices like- Samsung, Huawei and Asus.

LG patented their futuristic 16-lens smartphone camera for enabling to capture the “moving images” as per the patent name.

LG discloses in US patent number 10,135,963 that not only 16-lens camera setup but also exposes some of the future technologies. LG calls them the “plurality of lenses” and from at least two images, they can capture images and data which can be arranged to create “moving image data”. It is also possible that exact 3D scans of a subject or even computing distance can be produced. To display the image from various views, the copyright also outlines the piece together data from multiple images and mend images together.

The copyright does not mean that the LG has certain plans to launch the product with the 16-lens system but it will be interesting to see what LG has in surprise for us and what will be so innovative in the camera features and what all steps will it take to reach the goal.
