Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus Featuring Marshmallow OS Launched

Micromax is an Indian brand headquartered in Gurgaon area. The homegrown company has now unveiled another Android smartphone for the Indian buyers as promised under the tag Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus priced at INR 3,999. The new Canvas-series smartphone will be exclusively available to purchase via Snapdeal, an e-commerce website, from Friday.

One must recall that the company just a few days back also launched two other Dual-SIM smartphones in this series by the names Micromax Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro and had promised its users of launching Canvas Spark 2 Plus soon and looks like the company has successfully completed its promise.

Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax, said, "With the launch of the Canvas Spark 2 Plus, we are offering first-time users, with a smooth transition at a wallet-friendly price. Our objective is to convert feature phone users into smartphone users and synthesize technology and affordability in for this device. Through our partnership with Snapdeal for exclusive Spark series, we have very successfully expanded the overall entry smartphone market and created a favourable impact in the e-commerce channel capturing over 11% of the exclusive online market last year."

The handset maker stated that this GSM- based smartphone has been targeted for those users who are basically new to using smartphones. The biggest highlight of the handset is that it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box and happens to be the company's first smartphone running this latest Android OS. As per reports, the smartphone will be available in three color variants namely Metallic Grey, Copper Gold, and Champagne Gold.

In terms of specifications, the device features a 5-inch FWVGA display giving a pixel resolution of 480x854 pixels and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It comes equipped with 1GB of RAM and offers 8GB of inbuilt storage with the expansion support of up to 32GB via microSD card. Additionally, it sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera and houses a 2000mAh battery. The device offers standard connectivity options that majorly includes GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB.
