The Motorola, a Lenovo owned brand, on Thursday has launched the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The two smartphones are the flagship Moto mobile handsets that will actually replace the Moto X smartphones from the last year. Both smartphones are also remarkably different when compared to their predecessors, sporting a modular sleek design and amazing features that are unique. "With the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, we are rethinking smartphones completely differently," Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo CEO, and chairman said at the company's Tech World in San Francisco where the Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets were launched.
The Moto Z is comparatively sleeker and more beautiful of the two Moto phones launched, as it has a full-metal body which is 5.2mm thin. The latest smartphone has a 5.5-inch screen with 1440p resolution, a 2600 mAh battery that lasts for 30 hours, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, the option between 32GB and 64GB internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera with IOS and F1.8 lens. The Moto Z has additionally been incorporated with a water-repellent coating, microSD card support and features like the fingerprint scanner and NFC.
The Moto Z Force has similar hardware but there is a change in its design. The device is 7mm thick and has a bigger 3500 mAh battery. It also has a 21-megapixel camera. Another big change between the two smartphones is that the Moto Z Force has a screen which is shatter-proof. According to Motorola, the "fastest turbocharging we have put in our phone" capable of providing 15-hour battery life with just 15-minutes of charging.
It must be noted that a unique thing about the Moto X and the Moto Z Force is their modular design. The two devices have 16 pins on their back cover that can be used to connect three modules - a JBL module for better speakers, a battery module, and the projector module. The Moto mods are one the reasons why the Moto Z is so thin. The JBL Moto Mod enhances the audio performance of the phone in a much better way. It also adds a small battery to the device, helping in enhancing the battery life by up to 10 hours. The Battery Module, which is a separate standalone Moto Mod that has Incipio Offgrid battery inside it that adds up to 22 hours of extra battery life to the mobile. Meanwhile, The projector module has been named Moto Insta-Share that can project images as well as videos on to "almost any surface" located within 70 inches from the smartphone.
In addition all the above products, Motorola has also launched Moto Shells for the Moto Z that will snap to the phone to change its look and feel. Motorola says that these modules have been attached to Moto Z and Moto Z Force by using strong magnets. It's noteworthy that the Motorola is not the first smartphone maker company that has come with a modular phone this year. LG had earlier launched the LG G5, an amazing smartphone with the modular design. Although, the Motorola's modular design looks slightly more elegant and user-friendly. Nowadays modular phone is something that is creating all sorts of fuss, and the success of Moto Z or G5 etc will depend on the usefulness of these modules.
Motorola knows that these three modules are not enough to woo consumers, so the company has also announced a scheme to woo module developers. "With the Moto Mods Developer Program, you can develop the next generation of Moto Mods. The Lenovo Capital Fund will be setting aside seed funding to spur innovation on the Moto Mods platform. It has set aside $1,000,000 for the individual or company that creates the best Moto Mods prototype by March 31, 2017," the company said in an official statement.

The leading smartphone maker Motorola has also announced that the Moto Z will be globally available in September. As of now the prices of these two latest smartphones by Motorola has not been announced. Though it is clear that the smartphones will be available in the US as Verizon exclusive but the company hasn't specified if the handset will also be launched in countries like India or not. As we all know that when Motorola launched the Moto X-Force earlier, that phone was exclusive to the US initially but gradually Motorola introduced it in other countries, including India, and it is possible that the company may follow the same plan for the Moto Z Force and Moto Z.
