ZTE, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer finally rolls out new Android 7.0 Nougat updates for its Axon 7 smartphone, which also brings a support for Google’s Daydream VR platform along with it. The handset now becomes the most affordable smartphone to support Google’s Daydream platform in smartphone industry.
The company is one of the first smartphone manufacturers to announce the Daydream VR (Virtual Reality) support, and except Axon 7, other smartphone to support this platform includes Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Moto Z, and Moto Z Force. The ZTE Axon 7 is currently available with a price tag of USD 400 (Rs 26,900 approx).
Apart from this, there are some smartphones like Huawei Mate 9 Pro (Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design), which have capable hardware but still have to get the support for the silicon valley based firm’s VR platform. Apart from these, there are some handsets like ZenFone AR, which are yet to be launched.
Other than a support for VR platform, the new update will also bring some ravishing features and upgradations, which include split-screen multitasking capabilities, new emojis, battery saving features, Hiya caller ID/blocking app, the December Android security update, performance improvements, safety improvements, and stability too.
Lixin Cheng, chairman, and CEO of ZTE USA, in company’s thread post said, “Delivering Android Nougat for the Axon 7 provides consumers with an enhanced experience and greater value when purchasing this flagship device. Also, with Daydream certification, consumers are now able to have an immersive VR experience at a price they can afford when paired with the Daydream View headset.”
