Indian Messenger App Hike Integrates Video Calling Feature

In the era of technology, every single person has surrounded himself with smartphones and other gadgets. The usage intensity of smartphones forced the tech industry to roll out various instant messengers in order to make it convenient for the users to communicate with each other. However, with the passage of time, this too got into a competitive fight which in no manner looks on the verge of ending, not today and not even in near future.

Hike, one such instant messenger application has now added another feather on its ongoing popularity in the form of Video Calling feature. Following the trend, the messenger app rolled out its beta version on selective Android smartphones quite recently in the month of September and with the engagement it received from user’s end made it mandatory for the company to release it on a global basis. What makes Hike different is its large database of nearly 10,000+ stickers in 40+ regional languages.

Talking about the UI of the new Video Calling feature, it is quite plain and easy to use. The feature is operational on a single tap visible inside the chat threads itself. What makes its integration different is that unlike other instant messengers video calling feature, Hike assures that its new feature is designed for reliable and high-quality video experience even when the user is present in remote locations.

Commenting on the launch, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder, and CEO, Hike Messenger said “This was an obvious one and we’re excited to bring it to the market so quickly. We’ve been in beta for a few months and the results have been really positive. We’re now excited to roll this out across our entire user base. We see India as primarily a sight and sound market — and we believe video calling will have a large impact on how people communicate inside of Hike.”

One must note that in the month of January 2016, the company had itself revealed its statistical data. As per the released data, Hike had nearly 100 million users out of which 95-percent were located outside India, while 90-percent fell into the category of being youngsters. Adding to this, it was also stated that on an average, Hike users get to sharing of nearly 40 billion messages on a monthly basis while every user spends his/her 120 minutes on the platform on weekly basis.

This new addition from Hike is considered as a pre-planned strategy against WhatsApp as not much time has passed, the firm integrated the same feature in its application. However, here’s the catch: the users first need to register themselves as Beta Testers if they really wish to make use of WhatsApp video calling feature. To register for the Beta version of the application, the users can visit the link or else they also get the facility to separately download the application from APK mirror. It is up to the users to choose the best possible option for them.
