Sony Interactive Entertainment Discloses Two New Versions Of PlayStation 4

Sony Interactive Entertainment, a division of Sony Corp, on Wednesday, has revealed two new forms of its PlayStation 4 Console with an end goal to help Sony keep up its business lead over Microsoft Corp and Nintendo Co Ltd. The PlayStation 4 Pro, which will be launched on November 10, will have higher resolution and more realistic imagery by empowering 4k resolution and higher dynamic range (HDR), said Andrew House, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, at a PlayStation occasion in New York City. Moreover, the organization disclosed a slimmer, lighter and more energy efficient form of its PlayStation 4 Console, which will come out on Sept. 15 and will cost $299. PlayStation Pro, whose code name is "Neo," will bolster Sony's virtual reality headset. The PlayStation VR headset will go for sale in the United States from Oct. 13, the organization has said. Further Sony will make an upgrade available that will empower all the 40 million users of its PlayStation 4 console to move up to HDR, House said.

Netflix Inc will launch another application when the console dispatches with 600 hours of 4k content, including its hit crime series "Narcos," House said. Google's YouTube unit is additionally arranging an application for PS 4 Pro, he said. Since the 2013 dispatch, Sony has sold more than 40 million units of the PlayStation 4 console, far outpacing Microsoft Corp's XBox One and Nintendo's Wii U. Sony has said the game business is set to be its biggest growth driver, helped by solid PS4 console sales, a rise in subscribers to its PlayStation network and the launch of its virtual reality headset.
