Just before the selection of the team for matches against Pakistan, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from one-day format of the game. Sachin wrote to BCCI that he has decided to take retirement from one-day cricket. Before this, sources said that he wanted to play in the series against Pakistan but on the selection day he surprised everyday with declaring the retirement.
Critics were saying that he is stopping the way of youngsters and it was demanding from every side. Sachin started his international career against Pakistan in 1989 and he announced the retirement just before the series against Pakistan. He was in pressure due to his bad form. He has not played any one-day match since March 2012.
Continuous criticism made him to take this decision and former captain Sunil Gawasker said that he should take this decision after hitting 50th one-day century. Sachin has played 463 one-day matches in his career and he made 18426 runs with 49 centuries and he won the man of the match title for 62 times. He was active in the international cricket for 23 years.
