Mahindra KUV100 Launched, Starting at INR 4.42 Lakhs

Mahindra has finally stepped into the segment of compact SUV by the launch of its ardently awaited KUV100, carrying the starting price tag of Rs. 4.42 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune). According the price perspective, the highly anticipated KUV100 is going to be the most affordable offering from the car maker. Impressively, KUV100 is also be the first one in the category of SUV's, which will be powered by a petrol engine.

Cosmetically, the all new SUV looks fairly identical to its younger widespread sibling XUV500. It totally flaunts like a crossover because of the hatchback like dimensions. KUV is an abbreviation for Kool Utility Vehicle, which entirely upholds the fact that the overall circular design of the car is targeted to have an impact on the younger crowd and the first-time buyers. Creases on the bonnet are similar to the ones that we have seen on the most recent loop of the larger SUV. Large headlamp clusters with Daytime Running Lamps are there on either of its sides. Talking about the front fascia, the SUV took an inspiration from the aforementioned XUV500 sporting huge dual tone front bumper housing silver scuff plates and fog lamps. Raised over it is a hexagonal radiator grille, clenching the badge of Mahindra. Adding to the elegance, headlamps and tail lamps embarks two pointed lines that immensely holds the SUVish looks.

Apart from design, the zenith here are the new series engines, which have been incorporated into the Mahindra KUV100. Opposed to other Mahindra variants, the newbie is going to offer an option of petrol as well as diesel. The Powertrain comes from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel mill that propel out 83PS and 78PS of power respectively with peak torque figures of 115NM and 190NM.

Galvanizing over the safety scenario, the SUV comes fitted with a standard ABS beyond all its versions plus carries two optional air bags as extras. Apparently, the brand has planned to target Ford EcoSport incorporating a couple of other luxurious four-wheelers in India with the launch of KUV100.
